What I’ve done here is stencilled the phrase “what’re you looking at?” in front of a CCTV camera that has been turned to face a wall. Basically it’s a comment on the, ah, pervasiveness of CCTV in our society.

Also, in England young lads who don’t know any better will often say “what are you looking at” to someone right before they mug them. So it’s a clever double meaning.

This is a picture of a robot and the man who made the robot; the film Terminator 3 ‘Rise of the Machines’ inspired it. When I was watching the film with my 2 young children I suddenly thought - imagine if people do build robots in the future…imagine if they’re big and angry and they take over the world – and that’s what I wanted to get across here; the fear of suppression under self-aware artificial intelligence.

I gave the man a cardboard ‘robot head’ – because I thought it was funny: he’s a man, wearing a robots head made of cardboard! The funniest part is that in 10 or 20 years time if this all comes true and robots do walk around threatening us, then the robots will see this and if they have the capabilities to do so – they’ll laugh!
